Lorry Windscreen Stickers — What to Check Before You Order

Glass is the most sensitive surface on a lorry — it is not simply the last empty space left for branding. This guide covers why windscreen stickers need to be confirmed with the authorities first, what a printing shop like ours can produce, and the practical details owners routinely miss.

Lorry Windscreen Stickers — What to Check Before You Order

Why Glass Is the Surface You Confirm First

Glass Is Not Spare Branding Space

Once a lorry is wrapped, the glass is usually the last empty space left. The temptation to fill it is real — the company name across the rear cab window, a phone number on the side glass, a band along the top of the windscreen.

But glass behaves differently from every other surface on the vehicle. The body only faces outward. The glass faces two directions at once: the people outside, and the driver who depends on it to see.

That is why glass is the most tightly controlled part of a commercial vehicle, and why we always ask customers to confirm the position before we cut anything.

Who Decides What Is Allowed

LoriCantik is a design, printing and installation shop. We are not a road transport authority. We cannot, and will not, tell you how tall a windscreen band may be or how much glass may be covered.

Requirements around vehicle glass — what may be applied, where, and how far it may obstruct the view — are set by bodies such as the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and checked during inspection at PUSPAKOM. They can differ by vehicle class and permit type, and they can change.

The Safest Route before Printing

  • Check with a JPJ office or their official sources for your vehicle class.
  • Ask the PUSPAKOM branch you normally use before you order anything for the glass.
  • If the lorry runs under a permit, check that permit's conditions too.
  • Bring the confirmed answer to us. We print and fit to the size and position you supply.

If someone offers you a windscreen band and says "everyone does it, no problem one", that is not confirmation. That is an observation about other people's lorries.

What We Can Print for Lorry Glass

The glass work customers send us usually falls into three types.

Cut Vinyl Lettering on Side and Rear Glass

Company name, phone number or a social handle, cut from solid-colour vinyl and applied as separate letters. There is no background, so only the letterforms themselves cover any glass.

A Top Band on the Windscreen

Some owners want a band along the top of the windscreen carrying the company name. We can cut and fit one — at the height and position you specify after you have confirmed it with the authorities. We do not propose that measurement on your behalf.

Printed Panels on Non-Vision Glass

Some lorry bodies have small windows or glazed panels that are not part of the driver's field of view. These are usually more flexible, but they are still part of the same question — confirm first.

Three Practical Details Owners Miss

1. The Wiper Path

Wiper blades sweep a fixed arc across the glass. Anything sitting inside that arc gets scrubbed thousands of times a monsoon season, and a vinyl edge is the first thing to lift. A sensible design sits clear of the sweep.

2. Night Glare

Gloss vinyl on glass reflects dashboard lights and the headlights behind you. In daylight you may not notice at all; at eleven at night on the highway it becomes the first thing your driver notices. Anything fitted near the driver's line of sight is almost always better in a matte finish.

3. Heater Elements and Aerial Lines

Some cab rear windows have embedded heater elements or aerial lines. Applying over them is usually harmless, but scraping — or taking a blade to old vinyl — is not. Tell us early so the fitting team knows.

Material and Fitting on Glass

We print and cut in-house on 3M or Avery cast vinyl. The material is weatherproof and UV resistant, and vinyl life is five to seven years under normal conditions. Our work carries a 2-year colour and material warranty and a 7-day installation workmanship guarantee.

Glass is more forgiving than metal in one way — it is flat and it does not rust. It is less forgiving in another: every air bubble is visible from both sides, and dust trapped under a letter shows up at every sunrise. That is why glass work is fitted onto a fully cleaned surface, not rushed at the end of the day.

The Process in 3 Steps

1. WhatsApp us the details

Tell us what you want on the glass, the size and position you have confirmed, and send one photo of the window.

2. We design, you review

Design is done in-house with 2 free revision rounds. You see the exact placement before any vinyl is cut.

3. We fit at your location

The team comes to your workshop or depot. The lorry does not need to be driven anywhere.

Common Window Sticker Mistakes

  1. Ordering first and asking later. Glass is the one surface where that order really matters.
  2. Putting text in the wiper path. It will last a season, not five years.
  3. Letterforms that are too fine. Thin fonts on transparent glass nearly disappear — the background behind the glass keeps changing.
  4. Covering more glass than the job needs. A company name on side glass rarely needs to be as tall as the window.
  5. Scraping old vinyl off with a blade. That is how heater elements and aerial lines get damaged. Let the fitting team remove it.

Cost and Packages

Glass work is rarely ordered on its own. Most owners settle it in the same visit as the body branding, because the team is already at your location.

Our lorry sticker packages start from RM2,200 for 1-tonne and 3-tonne lorries with a single-side or partial wrap, and from RM3,500 for 5-tonne lorries, full wraps, or fleets of five and above. To see which one matches your vehicle, choose your lorry size and coverage on the homepage.

We do lorry sticker work across Malaysia. If your lorry is based in the Klang Valley see lorry stickers in Shah Alam, and for northern operators there is a page for lorry stickers in Ipoh.

If glass is your second question, the doors are usually the first. We wrote a separate guide on lorry door stickers and the details to confirm, and another on lorry stickers and PUSPAKOM inspection if your inspection date is close.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can LoriCantik tell me how tall a windscreen band may be?

No. That is set by the authorities, not by a sticker supplier. Confirm it with JPJ or PUSPAKOM for your vehicle class, then give us the measurement — we cut exactly to what you supply.

Can your window stickers guarantee my lorry passes inspection?

No. An inspection outcome is decided by the inspector. We are responsible for accurate printing, a clean fit and material that lasts.

Are window stickers easy to remove?

Cast vinyl on clean glass usually comes off with heat and patience. Avoid blades on rear cab glass, where heater elements and aerial lines sit.

Can I put the company name on the rear cab window only?

Yes — that is a small and common job. It is still subject to the same confirmation as any other glass work.

Do I need to bring the lorry to your shop?

No. Installation is done at your own location, at your workshop or depot.

In Closing

Lorry window stickers are not a difficult printing job. The difficult part is resisting the urge to start cutting vinyl before one question is answered: what is allowed on the glass for this vehicle class?

Confirm that with the authorities first. Once you have the answer, send it to us — we will cut exactly to it, keep it clear of the wiper path, choose a finish that will not glare at your driver at night, and fit it at your location without the lorry losing a day.
